We’re so excited to have you as part of the BorrowMyDoggy community, and we want you to get the best out of our platform.
The first thing borrowers see when looking for a dog to borrow is your dog’s profile, so it’s very important to give them as much information as possible to help them decide if your pooch is a suitable match.
Telling them all about your pup’s personality and needs can help you find someone who will treat your dog like one of the family. So we’ve popped together some top tips to create the perfect profile for your dog.
Make your first impression count
Profiles with photos are 15 times more likely to receive likes and messages, and since you can add up to 5 pictures of your pooch, we’d recommend adding 5!
Photos that show their faces are great, we’d recommend choosing a front-facing photo for their main profile picture. Then perhaps share some fun ones for the remaining 4, like a photo of them playing with their favourite toy or snoozing in their favourite spot on the sofa - try and choose a variety that showcases their personality.
If you have more than one dog on your profile try to include a group shot and individual photos of them all.
Make it personal
Borrowers love to learn about your dog so include plenty of detail in the description. Tell them all about your pooch’s personality, favourite things and what it is that makes them unique. The more you can share the easier it will be for the borrower to understand if they could be a suitable match.
If you need more ideas why not write about:
- Does your dog have any quirks or interesting habits?
- How much exercise do they like?
- What is the perfect walk for your pup?
- Do they like spending time with other dogs, children or other animals?
- What are you looking for on BorrowMyDoggy?
Be honest
If your dog needs someone with a good bit of experience because they’ve had a tough time, maybe they’re particularly eager to chase squirrels and forget their road awareness, they might be fearful of things like skateboards and bikes, or perhaps you’re looking for someone who can be flexible with dates and times, then share this on your dog’s profile.
Being honest and clear about what you’re looking for from the start will help borrowers understand if they’re someone who can support you, and this will make it easier for you to find the right person.
Don’t forget that borrowers aren’t paid dog walkers, so if you’re looking for a lot of support you might need more than one. There’s no limit on how many borrowers you can have.
Keep it up-to-date
Things can change! Perhaps you have a new schedule because you’ve taken a different job, or maybe your dog’s needs have changed and they now need two walks a day instead of one, always remember to keep your profile up-to-date.
Think ahead
Remember to allow yourself time to build up a relationship with a borrower, pop any specific dates you are looking for in the description and start messaging early for any upcoming trips.
