We’re so excited to have you as part of the BorrowMyDoggy community, and we want you to get the best out of our platform.
The first thing dog owners see when looking for a borrower is your profile, so it’s very important to give them as much information as possible to help them decide if you are a suitable match for their pooch. So we’ve popped together some top tips to create the perfect borrower profile.
Make your first impression count
Profiles with photos are 15 times more likely to receive likes and messages, and since you can add up to 5 pictures of yourself, we’d recommend adding 5!
Photos of yourself looking happy, friendly, approachable and with a doggy pal, if possible, are great. Owners love to see borrowers who look comfortable with pooches.
Make it personal
Let dog owners get to know you and include plenty of detail about yourself in your description. Tell them why you’d be the ideal borrower for their dog. The more you can share the easier it will be for the owner to understand if you could be a suitable match.
If you need some ideas why not write about:
- Why do you want to spend time with a dog?
- What arrangement are you looking for? Walks, weekends or overnight stays?
- Any experience you have with dogs
Be honest
If you can’t be flexible on dates and times, or you’re looking for something specific like a dog that can accompany you on runs, whatever it is you’re looking for, pop it in your profile.
Being honest and clear about what you’re looking for from the start will help owners understand if you can help with their dog, and this will make it easier for you to find the right match.
Keep it up-to-date
Things can change! Perhaps you’ve taken a new job and your availability has changed, or maybe you’ve learnt to drive and can now travel a bit further afield, whatever the change may be, remember to update your profile.
